Home:
Martinsville, IN - halfway between
Indianapolis and Bloomington
General Background:
If you knew my wife and I, you
would swear that they wrote several scripts for "Married
with Children" while looking through our
windows... I have been happily married to a most patient football
widow for 10 years and have three beautiful (okay, I'm biased...)
daughters -- ages 7, 6, and 1 -- and another one on the way in
August (poor planning - FFL draft time!). I was born and raised
in the great sports town of Detroit and became a diehard pro
football fan, despite the Lions efforts to dissuade me.
Nonetheless, I am an admitted complete sportsaholic with varied
interests and a devotion to teams that play like a well-oiled
unit and/or have wacky uniforms.
Occupation:
Pharmaceutical Discovery Research
Chemist, Eli Lilly & Company. Scary thought...they pay me
to invent drugs (legal ones, of course).
Credentials:
In eight years of playing fantasy
football, I have made the
playoffs in 12 of 15 tries - then again, there is no shame in
finishing .500 and missing the big dance in FanEx! I have been
fortunate enough to win many divisional titles and league scoring
titles, and a total of four league
championships. My lifetime record as a fantasy player is 123-71
(.634). I try to contribute regularly to FanEx feature articles
but am probably best known as the fearless (and often called
brainless) prognosticator on the fantasy
football fortunes of the Indianapolis Colts for Fantasy Insights'
"Insights Intelligence" (at fantasyinsights.com)
and for Mastermind (ffmastermind.com).
Favorite players:
The FA sleeper that leads me to
the title --thank you Kurt
Warner! Seriously though, I love Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce
and Barry Sanders (although that devotion drove me crazy when
he didn't score TDs!), and always seem to end up with Carl Pickens
and Wayne Chrebet every year on my fantasy squads. I also like
the type of QBs that put up top numbers and get overlooked in
fantasy leagues - like Steve Beuerlein last year and Jim Everett
and Jeff Hostetler a few years ago. I'm starting to really like
that Marvin Harrison
guy, too...
Favorite teams:
Growing up, I was a closet Buccaneers
fan (ya gotta be a REAL tough guy to wear bright orange and pink
uniforms), but switched to the Bengals when they became the league's
most garish dressers. Obviously, living in Indy has allowed be
to develop a great appreciation of the Colts as well,
and the Faulk/Bruce connection makes me watch the Rams, too.
Basically, my real favorite team is whoever is playing the Cowboys
or the 49ers <g>.
You heard it here first:
The New Orleans Saints will be an above average
fantasy team in 2000.
The Rams' offense will slow down this year and
the Vikes' O will really struggle by comparison to previous years.
Edgerrin James will get less yards and more TDs
this season.
FFL Mission:
To make every league in which I participate the
very best it can be.
To rule the leagues I commish with a eye towards
making every member anxiously count down the days until the next
season's draft.
To spread the pasttime of FFL to everyone I know!
To mercilessly thrash and squelch my opponents
every week, causing them to face total, fiery, disfiguring humiliation
at my vengeful hands.
Mantras:
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
There is no offseason!
